As many of you are likely aware, Xenoblade Chronicles X is due out for release in a little over a month here in the West. The much anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed Xenoblade Chronicles will likely be a highly desired Christmas gift for many gamers and for good reason. Featuring a world that apparently takes hundreds of hours to explore in its entirety and filled to bursting with all sorts of secrets and collectibles, this is shaping up to be the open world RPG to end them all.
In order to begin to build hype for the game's impending release, a new teaser site has recently opened up in North America. There's general information available on the game's content, downloadable wallpapers, screenshots, and trailers; as well as the option to pre order the game. Take a look here and see for yourself.
What do you think? Will you be picking up Xenoblade Chronicles X? Do you think it'll surpass its predecessor? Drop us a comment in the section below.

This is reiterating that I've still got to finish the first game.
Rainbow sexism.
Of course I'm going to pick it up!... After finishing the first game that is, and considering I'm still in Satorl Marsh, it's gonna take a while.
@Nintenjoe64 If it makes you feel any better, the stories between those games are completely unrelated, as far as I'm aware. You don't need to play the first game in order to play this one. It's more like a spiritual successor than a sequel.
Man i cant wait to play this. The time is closing in ~
I remember thinking to myself when I played the original how beautiful this vast world could look on more powerful hardware but doubted at the time that we'd ever see a true sequel. So when X was announced and looked even better than I imagined I was grinning ear to ear. That was 3 and a half years ago now,far more than I thought we'd have to wait at the time. But never mind,it's almost here,6 more weeks and I'll be able to lose myself in this vast HD world of beautiful vista's and gigantic beasts I imagined and I know already once I start my adventure,it'll have been well worth the wait.
This has got me more stoked than Zelda at the moment. I can't wait.
Do you get the feeling that once the hype turns into reviews we will be left with just an average game, nothing special to load into our Wii u's this Christmas.
More advertising and marketing would help, though... even if it's a niche title.
Still, XCX's a perfect little Christmas present for my brother. Can't wait to surprise him with the game.
@MitchVogel I feel you man, in a way I'm kinda glad it was delayed just to immerse myself that much more into Xenoblade Chronicles X. The open world game we've been starving for years now!
I've played it a little bit last weekend at a local gaming convention and was pleasantly surprised how good it looks and how smooth it runs. Still feels very much like the original Xenoblade in terms of gameplay but with far richer presentation.
Im really feelin it!!
Still a little worried about what 8-4/Treehouse will do with the game, but excited to get my hands on it.
i want to apologize to society already for not doing anything in december.nothing at al.just xeno.
Got my orders in, can't wait to play it. I'll basically be dropping anything I'm playing at the time to play this.
I sure hope the hype following on from the original won't leave me disappointed from overhyped expectations.
...hmmm, I think I better start writing up an article about all of it.
Really looking forward to this and I'm not big on JRPGs much at all.
NL should do a poll on everyone who visits this site on weather they will pick this up or not and weather they will pick up physical copy or digitally. Interested to see these numbers before it launches
already got my preorder in. can't wait to play this game. I have a feeling that I will be sinking alot of time into this game. Just hope I can still enjoy Christmas with my kids lol j/k
Part of what made the predecessor enjoyable was the story and the characters, and the various interactions with the world itself. A good story makes me want to complete the game, and I think games with better told stories allow the player to gloss over any minor flaws the game might have, or perhaps some more major ones.
I honestly doubt this game will be able to captivate me like the first one was able to. The main character being "you" doesn't really jive with me. Probably cause I'm a boring person, but all the same if I'm not interested in the protagonist, I'll lose interest in the story. Unless they can really find a way to bind the player character and the actual player in an immersive, engaging way, I think the first entry in the series will remain the most loved.
Regardless though, this is a day one buy.
Don't think I've ever heard of a teaser website before, but I'll take it. Already ordered the collectors edition, now listed as discon tinued on Amazon, but still looks like it's available elsewhere. Gonna be a happy Christmas morning.
Visited the site, glad they mentioned online multiplayer, I was afraid that part might not make it west. Now I just have to hope people are still playing it after Christmas and haven't moved on.
After reading all about the open world I'm now wondering if Link wasn't up to the task. I know they are very different games, JRPG and adventure game, but they are still both open world, and while Epona is cool, this has giant transforming mechs. Sorry Epona.
And it's OK if people prefer Zelda cell shading to this, I just happen to like the look of this game. I also prefer the look of ships in Disney Infinity to Starfox, but that may just be the Star Wars nostalgia talking.
Gotta play'em all.
@rjejr Did you just backhand both Zelda and Starfox? At least it wasn't in the same post because you know you like to spam multiple post on a row!
Oh wait, it was the same post! 😡
That screen shot is beautiful. Not even the ugly characters can mar it.
@Spoony_Tech "backhand both Zelda and Starfox"
I just call'em as I see-em. Get it, see'em, b/c I'm dissing the graphics.
I do think Zelda looks beautiful in it's usual artsy way, like WW and SS, bu tI've just finsished playing XC for 150 hours on my 52" HD 1080p tv and I just kept thinking how beautiful it would look in HD. Now I get to find out. Pixar makes some really great looking movies, but I'll take Avatar over Pixar any day. Well as long as the middle 40 minutes are removed from Avatar - soooo sloooow.
And Starfox? Well that's just StarFox 64 HD Remastered. They should have just named it that and not even pretended it was a new game. Compare SF to XCX, or DI space battles, or Skylanders,or W101 - Starfox is just an empty world, borderline tech demo like Mario 128.

I know they sacrificed graphics to get dual display on the Gamepad and 60fps, but when you sacrifice graphics, those are the graphics you get.
Most of the games I mentioned above sacrificed camera for graphics - SKylanders is fixed and the aerial battles in W101 are on rails - but that gives them better graphics.
As far as I can tell XCX is just flat out beautiful w/o sacrificing anything. Which makes sense as Monolith made XC on the Wii and that game still looks awesome even on my aformentioned tv - just not HD awesome, but that world is freakin' HUGE!
Starfox and XCX is no contest. At least Zelda has art appeal, which I like, just not as much as XCX. Though in the Zelda U XCX comparison it isn't only about graphics, those are pretty close, but transforming mechs > pony.
The music in the trailer on the teaser site at 1:08 gives me to the biggest chills and ear orgasms ever. I am so ready to get lost in this huge world of Mira in an attempt to forget the problems of my own world. December 4th can't come fast enough!
@Captain_Gonru ""I'm really feeling it""
That's up there w/ "My body is ready". It's never going away. My kids use it almost every day. And they didn't even play the game. Though my eldest watched me play and they both watched about 150 episodes of Chuggaaconroy compelting it in his lets plays on youtube, but technically they never actually played. It's a meme.
I do think they will both play XCX. Taking turns is gonna be rough, but everyday is rough. I'll only get toplay an hour a night after they go to bed. Going to be a long while before I'm online, hence my earlier concern.
XCX is more than enough for me this holiday season and though i may get attacked for it im looking forward to XCX more than Zelda or Starfox...Xenoblade Chronicles truly left me wanting more and it was my favorite game of the last generation and am looking forward to XCX this December
HYYYYPPPPEEEE. Cannot wait for this!
Story-wise, I don't think X will come anywhere close to the original's plot. How I wish this game would have continued the story of Shulk and crew, but I'm still very interested in the game and have been since it was originally unveiled. Gameplay-wise, it will probably dominate its predecessor in that department.
@Joenen I agree. The hollow main character formula Im sure will weaken the story and make the game not as good as the first one. Sometimes it works like in Fire Emblem Awakening or Chrono Trigger but its a tough feat to pull off. Still pumped though!!! My Wii U is starving...
Somehow I missed the whole multiplayer part. That is a pleasant surprise =)
@MitchVogel Me too. Might have something to do with the fact I know hardly anything about the new Zelda but XCX looks absolutely awesome!
I have yet to really see any gameplay footage or trailers from this and I don't plan to see any. I have the special edition preordered and will plan to be playing this for most of my December. Should probably finish the first game though...
Wonderful, new wallpapers for my work PC.
Is it December yet?
@Joenen its not gonna be as good as the previous one,i know.i'm not saying it was luck because they workt extremely hard on it but there was something magical about xenoblade chronicles.all just came together near perfect.x will try to recreate that feeling and fail but still be one of the best games in a long time(if your mad about jrpg's that is)
I just conquered the original Xenoblade last week. YES I WILL be buying this game. How is that even a legitimate question?
Xenoblade Chronicles is now my all time favorite game (Sorry Ocarina of Time)
Already have the special edition preordered and downloaded that pretty wallpaper last night. I am very ready for this game!
@yoshinatsu Yeah I know they're different stories but I'm in the middle of an epic go of XC which would be 100 hours wasted if I bought XCX before finishing.
My Wii U backlog is horrendous. I've barely completed a game since 3D world!
@WireWare That's about 25% through!
@rjejr Starfox Zero's graphics are going to improve.
it wont surpass the original but who cares, it'll still be fantastic
Kinda bummed it will be a spiritual successor, but that's fine. I'm just glad they kept the combat system from the first game.
I was checking the teaser images and one thing made me very happy... THERE IS NOPON IN THIS GAME.
@Captain_Gonru Because - lazy. Why press the button on a remote when you can get up and walk to the tv and change the channel?
Also, no sticking points, no stress, no long boring backtracking - which there was tons of in that game, even w/ skip travel. My kids, like most kids todays, are devoid of the need for conflict. Everybody gets a trophy.
Plus ,between owning a PC, PS3, Dreamcast and Wii U, it's not like they don't have other games to play. My kids watch exactly 30 minutes of tv per week, Pokemon, everything else is Youtube let's plays and glitchfests. And admitedly the guys they watch are funny, I'll give the youtubers that.
Oh, and yes, you are old.
@amiiboacid Will Starfox Zero graphics improve to this?

You can go to the 40 second mark to see an aerial battle near a tower very similar to Starfox. And this is a remake of a 13 year old game.
Here's Starfox. Nobody is going to confuse the 2.

@rjejr Platinum Games said they delayed the game to give it a "Platinum-like quality to it," so a graphical rebuild is likely. Also. Starfox 64 didn't have transformable Ar-Wings.

@amiiboacid Having played several PG games, I've always assumed that meant make it seem faster, like Sonic the Hedgehog is actually the same speed as Mario, but they use that spinning artwork and blur and sound effects to make you think he is moving faster. My guess is lots of trickery to give the game a feeling of speed rather than anything to change the overall presentation. Doesn't seem like they gave themselves time for much else with only a 4 month delay. And apparently the Wii U can only handle so much on the tv while also putting out a picture on the Gamepad. My kids and I play a lot of games where both of used, and the games always look better than Starfox to me, but it's there game, they can do what they want.
This and Fast Racing Neo, is what my Wii U is hungering for
@Captain_Gonru "How did I ever do this?"
Lots and lots of alcohol. Then we would be so hungover the next day we wouldn't realize just how tired we were.
