With Xenoblade Chronicles X rapidly approaching release there'll be a distinct buzz for Wii U owners that enjoy Monolith Soft's brand of immersive RPGs. Promising a huge amount of content to support an enormous game world, it looks set to keep players busy through the Winter months.
It's a complex game, however, with a lot of nuance and diverse mechanics to unravel. With that in mind Nintendo has been publishing 'Survival Guide' videos, and the latest is rather handy for seeing how you find your way around the world and make use of resources and mining via the GamePad. It also highlights the importance of investing in arms manufacturers if you want to get the best gear.
It's well worth a watch if you're planning to jump into Xenoblade Chronicles X next week.

These "Survival Guide" videos have all been really good. I'm more hyped than ever for this game.
Just loaded up some eshop funds for a pre-download! Super hyped!
@ThomasBW84 Targets top 3 Black Friday gifts sold are the iPad, the iWatch, and the Wii U. Very surprising and fortunate for Nintendo. Very article worthy if you ask me.
Just downloaded the data packs and cant wait till Christmas to play it.
Can you you play the game on the gamepad with out the tv? Off tv play.
@Gooberfish Yep, Gamexplain has confirmed off TV play.
I cringe every time I see news for Xenoblade x. I won't be getting it at launch unfortunately so I'll have to hope my hints are getting out to get me this for holiday. We'll see who picks it up :3
So pumped for this now!!!
Really looking forward to this
This was a definite buy for me but I'm thinking more and more I'll never be able to put enough time and attention into this to make it worthwhile.
I'm getting old and its very sad...
I'm hoping I can use the pro controller and have the Gamepad propped up near me and still have the map functions- like WWHD. The pro controller/Gamepad combo worked great for that game.
Really cannot wait to play this game, i might have to have two games on the go with the supposed length of this game, otherwise i will never get through the backlog.
Lol...
"If map mode is too difficult for you, consider staying on Earth to witness its destruction"
"maybe you can buy a skell before your likely demise"
I love it
I, like @rjejr, loved XC and I can't wait for XCX. This game is already in my Wii U's external HDD and whenever I get the chance to play it, I will.
i love the jokes, that the guy makes in the Video xD
@rayquaza_master Thank you. I wanted this game. I play more off tv than on.
Only a week left to wait .
These videos do NOT do a good job of instilling confidence into the viewer. :/
In all seriousness, I am honestly not sure if I would be able to enjoy this game based on how complex it appears to be. I would like to try XC before this one, but we'll see.
Went ahead and got the digital copy. My body is ready =)
I've been hurting for this, and I've been skipping all the new trailers past months. Let's just hope I'll get some chance to play it next weekend...
Cant wait! And did anyone else feel all fuzzy inside when he said we have an above average intelligence level? Lol.
I freakin' love how complex this looks. Haha
@cmk8
I hear ya man. Im old now and have 3 little kids along with a full time job and side writing career. Day 1 purchase for me but Im so sad it will probably take me 10 years to beat this. Haha. The struggle is real!
Man, im still stuck in Fallout 4 with a huge backlog. Now both Just Cause 3 and Xeno are dropping next week :/
@IronMan28 Still don't have it on my external HDD as the wait for Christmas is long enough as it is. I am getting good the guide in a couple of weeks. I was getting it only for the pictures but maybe I'll read up on some of the technical non-spoiler stuff.
The video left out my favorite Game pad use, shooting the remote controlled camera into the air and looking around. I'm planning on using that a lot.
The depth of this game...OMG.
I can't wait!
It wont be long now! Absolutely cant wait. Xenoblade on Wii is my favorite RPG of all time.
Oh dear. The complexity! But I'm ready. I have chosen not to get into Fallout 4 or any other time-consuming game just to give this game all the time I got. The postal services are on strike right now so I might not get the game on time though I guess few more days won't end my life.
5 more days of suffering....
@MeatyDino The game is complex, but that didn't really prevent me from enjoying it a lot. It doesn't really force you to learn everything right away so I didn't really try to figure everything out.. Just kinda learned it as I went along, which kept the game interesting along with all of the side quests. People that are more hardcore into that stuff, though, can try and learn all of it right off the bat....
@MeatyDino It's probably a good idea to watch the videos after you get into the game.
@roboshort
Thanks for the advice! I definitely think I'll try it out cuz it seems like a really enjoyable game.
@MeatyDino
GameXplain did a good Q&A series (like an hour of answering questions!) about this game and a lot the questions from fans had similar concerns about the complexity of the game. Apparently a lot of it is easier to learn in game (though watching this videos and reading the manual helps) and some aspects can be somewhat overlooked for people who are overwhelmed at first (such as armor skill slots, etc.).
It's also possible this game is too overwhelming for people who'd rather just have a more casual experience. Customizaiton in JRPGs have dropped off significantly in order to streamline the process for more relaxed fans and Xenoblade Chronicles X is making no notions of hand holding like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, etc. Even the survival vids are insulting our intelligence! Haha.
@R_Champ Sounds quite promising! Thanks for the info!
This game is going to consume me, haha. I don't think my wife will be very pleased!
