It's been a little while since we've covered Panga, one of the most hardcore Super Mario Maker creators to be found, so it's time for another dose of platforming insanity.
Panga has developed a sizeable Twitch and YouTube audience for his extremely complex creations, which typically require pixel-perfect jumps and moves to clear. His stages are often tried thousands upon thousands of times with no successful clearances, or perhaps very few; Panga, naturally, can beat them.
His latest creation, Skyway to Shell, took him 17 hours to create and 85 minutes to beat; it's not the most extreme stage he's created, but it's nevertheless great to watch. Or you can try it yourself with the ID code ACA8-0000-011A-04C1.
You can marvel at it below, though bear in mind there's one bit of strong language once the level's beaten. We don't really blame him.

This video shows me all that I need to see about this level.
Well, it shows you the entire level, so yea.
I always considered myself very good at platforming, considering difficult levels as just a little challenge.
But then, everything changed when I learned about Panga.
New article title "Taking the 'FUN' out of Super Mario Maker."
Impressive but um.... No thanks. At least not while theres not any Tylenol in my apartment.
Hardcore Mario players, meet Panga!
That does not look fun at all.
@TerrapinJess 'Fun' is in the eyes/hands/whatever of the player. I managed to take down this one:

And, believe it or not, it was actually a very fun process. Panga normally makes very well-crafted (if insane) levels. It takes a stupidly long time to get through them, but they can be genuinely elegant and a pleasure to play.
I think his newer stuff can feel a bit cluttered and overly frantic (this seems to be the direction all the super-hard-level makers are going, sadly), but it does have an audience who really, honestly enjoy playing these sorts of levels.
So yeah, a completely different cup of tea from your average Mario level, but not simply sadistic and worthless.
@Maxz Oh don't get me wrong; I will definitely be trying this level at least once just to say I did it but really unless I get some kind of badge or even a mystery costume what's really the incentive to push through it you know? I guess a Miiverse post/screenshot can be cool....
You're right though, different cups of tea; like defining the words "beautiful" or "good".
@WireWare plot twist, Panga is the fire nation.
Why does that sadist still make levels? Can't he make fun, or at least fair, stages? I used to make unenjoyably difficult stages too, but after the lack of stars that caused The Great Haunted Clock Tower to disappear from the servers, I learned my lesson, as my more successful stages can attest.
@TerrapinJess
Yeah, you're right about that. There's definitely a clique around these levels, and I'm sure the creators make their courses with the others in mind - sort of at tests for each other. I think a lot of the pleasure comes in being able to say, "dude, I beat your course". Outside of that circle, most of us can simply look on at the monstrosities they create with open mouths.
@SanderEvers
Yeah, that Penga chap is awful. He's always stealing Panga's ideas!
@TerrapinJess "but really unless I get some kind of badge or even a mystery costume what's really the incentive to push through it you know?"
Where did "yatta" originate from?
These levels are too intense lmfao
@shigulicious someone beat one of his levels and he screams YATTA at the end of it a couple times. It's pretty funny.

It's at 1:12, enjoy

Only 331 deaths, no thanks, I'm good.
