Version 2.5.0 of Splatoon goes live soon, and the official Tumblr page for the game has advised that implementing the update will necessitate a bit of downtime that'll prevent online play. It's not a lengthy break, but is worth noting for North American gamers planning some evening matches.
The following downtime is on the way soon:
- 4:50pm Pacific / 7:50pm Eastern on 19th January (12:50am UK / 1:50am CET on 20th January) until 6:00pm Pacific / 9pm Eastern on 19th January (2am UK / 3am CET on 20th January)
As for the changes the update will bring, it's mainly minor bug fixes and closing off loopholes, as you can see in the update notes.

Can't wait for Arowana Mall to be added to the stage rotation again.

"Can't wait for Arowana Mall to be added to the stage rotation again."
What are you talking about? It wasn't ever out of rotation.
@BornInNorway81 Yes it has. Since mid December, in fact. Because of the returning glitch of a shortcut in all modes which the latest patch has mentioned is fixed.
@Porky
Do you have source? I'm sure I've played ranked battles on Arowana Mall the last 30 days.

No official statement was given, Nintendo quietly took it out of the rotation. People started to notice and discussed it over various gaming fourms.
If that doesn't convince you, take a look at this http://splatoonmaps.github.io/
Specifically, Arowana Mall month of December and January. Someone claiming on Squidboards link that the last day the stage was in rotation was the 23rd of December. Before yesterday, Arowana Mall hadn't been seen.
@Lizuka I'm referring before 2.5 patch, yeah?
Hopefully it will let me play online then!
