Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard are almost upon us, and the hype is certainly building. They're the first new Star Fox games in a number of years and, as a result, Nintendo is ensuring that they get plenty of attention, even live streaming an animated short.
Ahead of the 22nd April release Nintendo of Europe has also released its launch trailer. As always it features plenty of clips of the game at its most exciting, and is worth watching for those eager to catch a glimpse of some very special stages. This writer is surprised at one stage reveal, in particular - see if you can figure out which one has a unique twist...
In any case, check it out below and let us know what you think.

Still not interested in this game or series. Good luck to those who like Star Fox.
OH GOD. THE HYPE IS SO REAL! I would watch it, but I don't want to be spoiled yet!
Hope the delay was worth it but I really ended up pre-ordering after I heard NL take on Guard. Nintendo should pay you guys lol
everyone sounds so weird, they could have easily gotten the original voice actors back. or at least the ones in smash (not sure if those were the originals)
@SPG They are the original Star Fox 64 actors. They were also used for Smash 4.
As far as the pack-ins on the first print, you have SFZ and Guard, but what is that third item?
@bluedogrulez
It looks like a steel-book case, those are pretty popular with collectors due to their rarity and special designs. It could be an art book filled with concept art and developer interviews though, it's hard to tell when it's only on screen for 3 seconds.
Does look awkward holding the gamepad up to the TV screen.
"G-Diffusers set to maximum!"
...so... F-zero, then.
I feel like the line should have been "Andross won't be getting his way now".
Anyway, they don't make em like this anymore. all fans of arcade shooters should pick this up as I have a feeling this game could really grow on you even if you're not a match with the dual screen play
More hyped for Ratchet & Clank tomorrow tbh.
To be honest I've lost all hype for this game and will likely buy it cheap or second hand. I don't see it reviewing great either, likely 7s at the most.
honestly it looks a lot better than it originally did. Not to mention the fact that its now very clear it isn't a N64 remake.
I'm actually interested in that Star Fox Guard!
Oh man, did you see that 0.000000000000000000000000056% frame-rate dip at 2:17?
And at 2:51 during what looks to be an exciting and fast-paced boss battle, if you look to the very left of the screen and use a magnifying glass, you can see a slight sparkle appear for a fraction of a millisecond when it should be a solid backdrop!
This game is doomed to fail!
Awesome!!
If this was the E3 video....
Hype! Hype! Hype!
My Hype levels are through the roof!!! Starfox is one of my all time favorite series and this version looks epic- can. not. wait!!!
Definitely going to wait and see.
I want to play this thing BADLY.
@Vandy You took the words right out of my mouth. I can barely type right now I'm raging so much....why Nintendo, why????? This "game" stinks! I want Miyamoto to hand in his resignation immediately....
In all seriousness it looks like a blast...it's been a long time coming!
It's first time haven't been excited for new game....Just don't know if get it :/
Y'all are some real cheapskates
@abbyhitter Don't you know you're not allowed say anything negative about this game even if you've paid for the First Print Edition?
@FragRed You're not allowed to say that.
@Vandy LOL! Your post is accurate to 99% of the gaming community nowadays. People forget to just have fun with games.
Managed to order the First Print Edition. Really looking forward to it. Hopefully it will arrive on release day.
I never "got" Starfox, even the original when everyone was cooing .. "Look at the SCALING POLYGONS!!!!" Looked rubbish to me and found it extremely boring! Gave the SNES version another try last night... my mind hasn't changed. Then I booted up the 3DS version .... played through training and first couple of levels. Was OK. Slightly better than I remember. Will be interesting to see how Zero is received. . . the trailer is none too exciting!!!
Not even 1 'Do a barrel roll'
Terrible trailer.......
Looks good to me, but hey what do I know... I spend all my gaming time playing non-realistic looking games which were created by a defunct games company who, by virtue of spending too much time creating solid fun experiences rather than cinematic carbon copies, is clearly doomed...
Cheers @Vandy for making me laugh
It looks great.
The last great Star Fox game was Assault on GameCube. Then we got that mediocre Star Fox Command on DS, and nothing on Wii.
It's time. Oh it's definitely time. I've been waiting 10 years for this.
I still think Corneria looks incredible dull. It's not a question of 'graphics', realism and light shows like everyone is debating about... It's simply, aesthetically, dull looking.
On another note, is it me or the voice actors are a bit passionless in their acting? lol
@Shiryu ja o tenho! Fnac malandra a vender em adiantado
Bejo joguinho
Been playing the game for a couple of hours, very nice game
Very fun on co-op
@Desy64 Boa! Amanha é a minha vez.
"I brought Star Fox out of retirement. I'm filling the team with pilots I KNOW I can trust."
Wasn't Pigma also originally on the team?
"Experience an innovative control scheme."
A control scheme where you don't press any buttons, move the joysticks, or even have to move your fingers at all! These aren't complaints, just things I noticed that made me laugh. The hands on the controller not moving at all was just ridiculous. lol
Notice Fox only had to introduce Peppy and Falco but had to give reasons as to why Slippy's on the team.
@DoctorWily Pigma was on the Star Fox team led by Fox's father, which Fox's father would have also chosen the members for. That was Fox's point.
@Smokingspoon It seems to me like maybe they're shooting for a more realistic, less over the top performance.
The space levels look impressive plus the high speed action and laser blast filled screens give me a Platinum Games vibe. Really can't wait for this. Could this actually trump the original as my fave Starfox game? (One of the deciding factors will be the music).
I admit: That was a pretty cool trailer!
The review embargo will be lifted at 4 AM BST tomorrow morning. Most orders will have been processed or despatched at that stage.
10 years ago everyone would have lost their s*** over this game- it's a proper lylat wars sequel, maybe Nintendo left it too long but I really hope it's awesome.
Looks aweeeeeeesome!
I doubt I will be able to afford it soon unless I can snag a second job though. Fat chance of that. Games are expensive. Games must wait. Curse you, hungry wallet.
@Kanahu: I've confirmed it is a steel book and the inside is REALLY cool. Ah well, hope our European friends enjoy it.
