Zelda: Breath of the Wild update 1.3.3 is now live, and features a cool bonus quest which allows you to collect Rex's "Salvager" armour from the forthcoming Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
To find all three pieces of the armour, you have to visit specific locations during the night. Once you're at one of these locations you need to cast your gaze at the sky in a certain direction and keep your eyes peeled for a red shooting star. Watch where it lands and visit that location to find a chest with a piece of the armour inside.
- The first location is the Bridge of Hylia - go to the middle of the largest of the bridges and look to the south to see the star.
- The second location is Skull Lake, near the Zuna Kai Shrine. Look to the east for the star.
- The third location is Hebra Peak, close to where a Korok is hiding at the top of the peak. Look to the south-east to see the star fall.
You've now rocking Rex's armour. Let us know how you get on by posting a comment below.

Any bonus effects for the armor?
I'm not going to spoil this. I hope the armour has some unique ability, not something already in the game. And that it can be upgraded, if its stuck on 3 for each piece then it has no practical use.
SPOILER ALERT!
Only read if you don't like surprises.
@abbyhitter I got the helmet at lunch time. It has 5 def and swim speed bonus. I didn't have time to check if it is upgradable but I doubt it is as it stayed with DLC armors at the end of the armor list after sorting
Looks like it was washed too hot...
Damn chines.....what Monolith ist japanese?
So this is just to advertise anew game? Is aquiring it limited to a certain timeframe? If so why should I bother getting it if I am not into that game? It all sounds a bit silly to me (just like skyrim in link clothes...)
Monolith is a Japanese company and their employees are probably competent at washing clothes at a suitable temperature.
Monolith heavily helped to make BOTW. I can see why Nintendo wanted to help promote them.
I've found the first treasure chest. Now please be unique and upgradeable armour.
Edit:
Nothing unique unfortunately, "Swim speed up", the same as other armour already in the game. That it starts from 5 has me hopeful that it at least can be upgraded.
Edit 2:
Another set of armour that has no practical functionality. It can't be upgraded. What a waste!
Chest number 2.
3rd and final chest.
Disappointing that there's no real use for the armour.
The End.
It took about half an hour. Hadn't played the game for over 3 and half months. I'll be back when the real DLC hits towards the end of December.
This sounds slightly disappointing. I was hoping for at least a little bit of a story, not just random crap falls from the sky.
@Pupito It's on Wii U as well.
Got it during my lunch. Each piece offers 5 armor and a swim speed up. The entire set offers swim dash stamina up. The set is not upgradable at fairy fountains. I'm very meh about it overall.
Are all these locations explained in the game's quest log or nah? Just so I know if I need to use this to track them down.
People don't understand that if this armor is powerful then it can potentially ruin the game for newcomers. You don't want easy to obtain gear that outclasses high crafted armor. It's great to see that crafting is still king
It's just armor for the sake of promotion and looks. Although I will say it's kind of silly that there's no bump to ancient damage, seeing as Xenoblade deals with mechs.
@Biff_ARMStrong while that is true for the Phantom armor set that is relatively easy to obtain, 2 of these Xeno pieces are in hard to reach areas where you should already have armor that far surpasses them. In other words, by the time you find these they are useless.
Yeah. I wasn’t pleased with this quest. At first I overthought the clues, but I eventually got it. If only star fragments were that easy! The armor can’t be dyed or upgraded. The Zora Armor puts it to absolute shame, and has the same skill. Only 15 defense... at least make it worthwhile? And as far as the rare items to be repurchased, you can’t buy amiibo armor and weapons. Which, I’ve used all my amiibo on the game since launch, every time I play it, and I still haven’t gotten certain weapons and shields. Still haven’t even maxed out my Sheik mask, because... STAR FRAGMENTS. All the in-game gear is maxed though, so I guess I can’t care.
@Panopticon Yeah true, they should have just added something simple like cast 5 fireballs 30 min recharge. So you can light fires without having to carry a fire weapon or arrows. idk. lol
Thank you for the guide! I actually found a Shrine I missed in the first playthrough while looking for the new armor.
I could only find the first one, wich was easy. Now I know where to find the others.
People complaining about this: Its just a little extra to promote Xenoblade 2. More for the looks less for the usage. Its just a fun extra and it doesn't cost you anything. Some people are never pleased...
Where is the korok at? Please take a screenshot of the map with a mark on where the korok is on
